Folkarulas – this missive comes to you in spirit from India. Please be sure to fill out the personnel form/medical and fax it back to Gabe at 773-363-3181. She will be making airline reservations and overseeing visas and other logistics until I get back from India.

You must obtain a valid passport and a yellow vaccination card with a record of your vaccinations. Make photocopies of all your important documents, including passport, health card, health insurance and any prescriptions (including eye glasses)

We will be bringing a high-quality medical kit with us with first aid as well as antibiotic supplies.

You are responsible for finding out your blood type as well as obtaining a yellow vaccination card showing inoculations for: Polio, diptheria, tetanus, typhoid, Meningitis, Yellow fever, cholera

LUGGAGE

Please try to keep your personal gear (clothes, field gear/tools, toiletries) to a single large duffle bag and carry on backpack. It is not necessary to bring a tent, as the Chinese team will be providing heavy duty large army tents for us as well as food and collecting equipment. We will also have cots in the field, but be sure to bring a warm sleeping bag.

CLIMATE

Days will be warm but the nights will be cool or even cold – especially the first few weeks. Be sure to bring a coat, warm hat, warm fleece or down vest, as well as a windbreaker.

MONEY

The expedition will cover travel, food and housing costs during the expedition. The expedition will not cover personal pleasures, including fermented bactrain milk. The last few days of the expedition will be spent in Beijing. During that time you will be responsible for your own meals, travel, and housing if you choose to leave the group.  It is best to bring US Dollars. There is no need to exchange money before the expedition; it is easy to change money in China. Smaller denominations are helpful.

FIELD COMMUNICATION/PROJECT EXPLORATION WEBSITE
